Alaska Antimicrobial Stewardship Summit 2018
Please join the Alaska Antimicrobial Stewardship Collaborative (A2SC) on February 9, 2018, for the Alaska Antimicrobial Stewardship Summit. This all-day forum is for healthcare professionals to learn from experts about antimicrobial stewardship best practices and implementation strategies to improve patient care. This summit precedes the Alaska Pharmacists Association (AKPhA) 52nd Annual Convention and Tradeshow, February 9-11. The AKPhA has a separate registration page and is an additional fee.
A2SC is a partnership of acute and long-term care hospitals dedicated to developing innovative strategies to ensure appropriate antibiotic use. A2SC's goal is a simple one: all patients in Alaska will receive the right antibiotic at the right time and only when necessary.
Details: National and local leaders in antimicrobial stewardship will provide insight into efforts taking place in Alaska and around the country. The keynote speaker will be from the University of Washington and will focus on antimicrobial stewardship in the outpatient setting. Featured Alaska speakers include Dr. Ben Westley, on stewardship in the pediatric realm and Dr. Jay Butler on antimicrobial resistance in Alaska. Katie Gordon and Andrew Martinez from Alaska Native Medical Center will speak on leveraging the lab and microbiology department to optimize stewardship. Marc Meyers from Southwest Health System will discuss antimicrobial stewardship in limited resource settings. A draft agenda will be available in January with more details on all the presentations.
Audience: This program is geared towards healthcare professionals in hospitals, outpatient settings, and long-term care facilities who are engaged in or planning to start work on antimicrobial stewardship, including physicians, pharmacists, infection preventionists, nurses, quality directors, and licensed independent practitioners.

Continuing Education/Contact Hours:
Members of the Alaska Pharmacists Association (AKPhA) will receive CPE credit. AKPhA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
This activity has been submitted to Montana Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Montana Nurses Association is accredited with distinction as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
